Honey (You Give Me)

 

You give me honey
Liquid in my ear
A dream so halting
I catch my breath
until
you pass me by

 

I watch you as a stranger
Drinking in your words
Memorizing everything
The way your dress clings
Shifting
as you pass me by

 

This dance is forbidden
I should not touch
Brown eyes steal
the very breath in me
waiting
and then you pass me by

 

You give me honey
Nectar upon my lips
Who knew a simple kiss
Would be my undoing
