First kiss

First Kiss

I am sure that everyone remembers that first kiss.
I don't mean the first time your lips touched another's…
But that first genuine kiss, when sparks ignited,
and all at once, two souls combined for a fleeting moment..

Chances are that person is out of your life now,
perhaps even many thousands of miles away…
Yet, that memory shall endure for always,
just as vivid as ever, and you shall cherish it.

And you surely ponder if they remember it as you do.
If that kiss you shared held the same wondrous intensity,
that it is a memory they also treasure, and hold close to their heart.
Or simply allowed it to wither and ultimately fade away…
