(TPS) New Year

Another day a new time,
old resolutions to resurrect,
didn't see them through last year,
won't see them through wearing this armored vest.

Protecting my heart from others, letting them in,
I'm trying my best,
can't ever seem to make my heart skip a beat,
What have I done besides make a resolution mess.

A resolution mess from all the lies I've told,
to lose weight, at least one date, marriage or propose,
neither have I done, none were planned,
just an easy way to get my mother off my back... again.

My mother, a woman of all shades,
shades of crazy, shades of nagging, and one-third of insane,
I sometimes have to put up with her ways,
maybe 2008 will change my life, as did 2007 changed my days.
