(TPS) Office Thing

Office Thing

She pushed him away
everyday
In everyway that she could
But she couldn't help
swinging by his office
You know
Just to see how things are going
And she keeps singing that dammed song
The one about the pain you feel
when you lose your one true love
By pushing them away
by keeping the way you feel a secret
That way you'd be free

So she was pulled over on the way in
failure to yield
And all that
She pushed him away
everyday
In everyway that she could
But she couldn't help
singing . . .
And she realized
That she keeps singing that dammed song
The one about falling in love
with a man who belongs to someone else

No matter how hard she tried
she couldn't stop feeling so connected to him
So she sang the song in her car
to get control of her emotions
She pushed him away
everyday
In everyway that she could
But she couldn't help
making a fool of herself
every time she passed through
his office
You see
She thought if she allowed herself
to feel all those feelings
in the privacy of her own car
Then she could be so cool
the rest of the time...
Of course that worked
like fighting fire with gasoline

Quixotic as ever
