"Freezing rain"

Freezing rain
Late winter—
pines still in deep green,
sap frozen
Birds and twigs of a
big ol' tree,
rattling in the icy rain,
molded dead
A branch drops its needles
to the earth—
needles under heaven,
under icy rain,
gnawing into coral breasts,
with incest teeth
